As part of our Game Design course at OCAD U, we were asked to take a digital game and bring it into the physical world. Along with my classmates, Margarita Castro and Fusun Uzun, we built the very first Plants vs Zombies card game.
Taking the ever popular franchise as a template we wanted to build a game which was based on luck, skill and interpersonal relationship dynamics.
The objective of the game is survival. Every player is assigned a plant and given a certain amount of sun. A zombie appears from a deck of cards and attacks one specific player, it is the prerogative of the team to either help that player or choose not to based on individual and group strategy.
Each zombie card has it's own specific traits which require team work or individual firepower.
